Cancelled Teej 2026

📍 Rosslyn Hall  (was Saturday, 12 September 2026)

Our Teej celebration did not go ahead this year. With the floods and landslides in Nepal still weighing on many families here, the committee decided it was not the right year to celebrate. If you paid to attend, please see the note for your options. Nobody will be left out of pocket.

Candlelight Vigil for Nepal

We gathered with tea light candles to remember those lost in the floods and landslides in Nepal, and to stand with the families still finding their way home. Thank you to everyone who came, and to everyone who brought a candle for somebody else.

The QR code for the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund was shared on the night, and it is at the top of every page on this site. Work, family and distance kept away many people who wanted to be there, and people carry news like this in different ways. The fund is open either way.

08 September 2025

In memory, September 2025

In September 2025, young people across Nepal took to the streets, and lives were lost. Our community gathered here in Thunder Bay to light candles for them, a long way from home and grieving all the same.

We remember those who did not come home. We hold their families in our thoughts, and we keep their names among us.

Even faraway, we stand with Nepal.

Any NEST Event

Tell us you would like to come

This form is for any NEST event, not one in particular. Tell us what you would like to be invited to, and we will let you know when dates are set. It also helps our volunteers plan food, space and activities, and it is where to ask about a ride if you need one.
Food preference (required)

If your group needs both, choose "a mix of both" and tell us the split in the notes below.

Which of these would you like to hear about?

Exact date, time, and venue are confirmed on Instagram @tbaynepali and Facebook. Follow along so you do not miss an update.

Event Registration

When registration is required, NEST publishes a registration form link on Instagram (@tbaynepali) and Facebook. Registration helps us plan food, space, and activities, when you register, please be accurate about the number of people attending.

Photos and video are often taken at NEST events. If you have concerns about being photographed, please let the event coordinator know.

Volunteer at Events

Events happen because volunteers show up. From setting up chairs and cooking food to welcoming guests and cleaning up afterwards, every role matters. The more volunteers we have, the better our events can be.

Organizing a Community Event?

If you are part of the Nepali community and would like to propose an event idea or cultural program, you are welcome to reach out through the Contact page. Please note that NEST reviews all event proposals before committing to support, partnership, or co-organization. Our capacity as a volunteer organization is limited, and we cannot guarantee support for every proposal.

Gathering together is how community grows.
